Since being involved in the SSCo programme the opportunities for the children at Oakington Manor to be involved in sport outside of the school has greatly increased. We are fully committed to all of the sports that are currently organised (and take an active part in the organisation of some events). As one of our focuses is inclusion, we actively promote children of all abilities to participate in the SSCo festivals and tournaments.
We have enjoyed the opportunities of receiving professional coaching for Tag Rugby, Football (we were also honoured by a visit by Sir Geoff Hurst) and Hockey with ex-England player and National Coach John Shaw, and have received addition teacher support with Tennis, whole school INSET on Gymnastics and SAQ.
Through Partnership funding Oakington has benefitted from receiving the following equipment Huff and Puff (playground), basketballs and hoops, football coaching equipment and the use of hockey sticks.
We are the current Middlesex 7-aside Football Champions. Last year, 2/3rds of our pupils (including KS1) have represented the school in various sporting events.
