Since joining the SSCo programme in 2002, the amount of sports participation has increased dramatically at Oliver Goldsmith. The school has benefited in many ways, specialist training has been offered to staff to enhance their knowledge of different sports and activities. Free equipment has been given to school which encourages participation. Festivals, tournaments and PLT Working Days provides time to meet teachers from other schools and network.
Out of hours clubs include tennis, modern dance and football. Each year more tournaments are being organised which provides the children with a goal to work towards plus many other rewards. They get to meet and socialise with members of other schools, host matches and bear the responsibility of being part of a team, winning or loosing.
To increase the amount of physical activity at KS1, the Huff and Puff scheme encourages children to exhort energy during the lunch period.
Kingsbury High's Sports Leaders regularly visit us. Success has been gained in Tag Rugby, students have represented the school at the London Youth Games and continue to enjoy each sport we participate in.
